How Jamie Trost went from a broke and heart broken single mum, to successful breakup up recovery coa
Please tell us a bit about the nature of your business:
I help women recover from devastating breakups and find long term love and joy.
What inspired you to start your business?
My son. He is my inspiration for everything. I want to provide him with an amazing life and be a role model for him to look up to.
What's the story behind your business:
I was left 13 days before my wedding with a 3 month old baby and had to move in with my parents. I had just graduated from college and couldn’t find a job in my field. I worked constantly at minimum wage and still needed my parents to survive. I read an article in the Forbes magazine about successful entrepreneurs who started from nothing and I knew I could do it too. It took two years to find a job in my field and gain my independence, I put all my extra money into businesses that never took off. After 8-10 years of trying I started hiring coaches who helped me transition into the leader I am today. Through all my struggle I never stopped believing it was possible.
What was the most challenging aspect of building your business in the beginning?
Being consistent. I now wake up at 5am everyday and from 5-6am is the most productive hour of my day!
If you were to launch your business again, would you do differently?
I have launched a few businesses and the one thing I finally figured out that I would never change is to get a coach. My business coach has given me all the tools for success and had supported me along the way. I wish I would have figured it out sooner!
What keeps you motivated?
Helping people keeps me motivated. Coming from a place of service instead of a place of need.
How do you balance work and family life?
Well, as a single mom (soon getting married) it has been really tough. I get my work done when my son is sleeping or gone and I just make it work. I have had to sacrifice my sleep and personal time to build something bigger than myself.
What’s your proudest business moment?
My clients success is always my best business moment. I love helping women transition from heartbroken to whole.
What’s been your most successful form of marketing and/ or brand awareness?
Facebook has allowed me to connect with others at no cost and spread my message. I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity to connect with others that has never existed in the past.
Do you have any positive habits or routines that you feel have attributed to your success?
Yes, as mentioned previously my power hour is from 5-6am. I am clear, focused, and alert! It has been a game changer for me!
What's your favourite business app/ tool/ book/ podcast etc?
We live in such an information overload age... I find my coaches to be the most helpful because they hold me accountable. I also have had transformational transformations instead of helpful information here and there that is hard to piece together.
What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs just starting out?
No doubt, get a coach. Hire someone who has started from nothing and created a very successful business. They will help you do it too! I spent almost a decade trying to figure it out on my own and I didn’t get anywhere. In a year, I have made a bigger impact on the world than ever before. It’s so incredible!
